VELCO brings a deep know-how, passion, and creativity to ensuring the reliability of Vermont’s power grid today and finding innovative ways to serve Vermont’s energy future. VELCO’s vision is to support a sustainable Vermont through our people, assets, relationships, and operating model. VELCO is using Northview’s predictive technology to improve proactive risk awareness of wet snow and freezing rain icing hazards in order to improve reliability.
Green Mountain Power
Green Mountain Power (GMP) serves approximately 265,000 residential and business customers across Vermont and is partnering with Northview Weather to deliver innovations to improve reliability and cut costs and carbon. GMP is a pilot technology user to find new ways to understand weather risks in order to provide more reliable service to customers.
Vermont Electric Coop
Vermont Electric Coop (VEC) is the largest electric cooperative in Vermont, serving approximately 32,000 members across the complex and rural terrain of Northern Vermont. VEC is an early adopter of Northview’s storm prediction technology, benefitting from new customized weather information to help with storm preparation decisions for snow, ice, and wind storms.
Northern Vermont University-Lyndon
Northern Vermont University-Lyndon (formerly Lyndon State College) is located in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom and offers numerous pre-professional programs that focus on experiential learning. Research led by faculty and staff within Lyndon’s Atmospheric Sciences Department seeded the technology development and creation of Northview Weather. NVU continues as a partner helping to facilitate co-working space at Do North Coworking in Lyndonville, Vermont.
